Why some brands are choosing product-led video, and what the 2026 disclosure rules actually require.
Most AI video tools put a synthetic person on camera. A smaller group renders motion typography over your own product photography instead. The second approach avoids the synthetic-performer question entirely.
Three rules landed in 2026: New York SB 8420-A on 9 June, and the EU AI Act Article 50 plus California SB 942 on 2 August. They concern synthetic performers and machine-readable marking of synthetic media. Text generation is explicitly carved out in the EU framework.
Framewright renders kinetic type over your own catalogue photography. Script generation and layout are production tooling. The surface those rules address — a synthetic human likeness — is not in the output.
| Alternative | Framewright | |
|---|---|---|
| AI avatar tools | Synthetic presenter on camera | In scope of synthetic-performer disclosure |
| AI voice cloning | Cloned human voice | Likeness; in scope |
| Script generation | Text written by a model | Explicitly carved out |
| Layout and colour extraction | Production tooling | Not addressed |
| Your own product photos | Photography you own | Not synthetic media |
